Finite Element Subsurface Flow and Transport Simulation System |

overview |
|
FEFLOW is a
software package for modeling fluid flow and transport of dissolved
constituents and/or heat transport processes in the subsurface. FEFLOW contains pre- and
post processing functionality and an efficient simulation engine.
A user-friendly graphical interface provides easy access to the
extensive modeling options. FEFLOW - in contrast to
some of the competing products - is not a graphical front end
for a separately developed simulation kernel. It is a completely
integrated system from simulation engine to graphical user interface.
It includes a public programming interface for user code.
FEFLOW is used by leading
research institutes, universities, consulting firms and government
organizations all over the world. Its scope of application ranges
from simple local-scale to complex large-scale simulations.

Documentation and Support |
|
FEFLOW is supplied with an Installation Guide, a detailed User's Manual, a
FEFLOW reference manual, and 4 volumes of FEFLOW White Papers, along with
installation CD-ROMs. When purchasing a new FEFLOW license, the user will also
receive a 1-year Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) that entitles for free
technical support and free updates. The SMA contract is recommended to be
renewed every year.
Hardware and Software Requirements |
|
FEFLOW is designed for Microsoft Windows environments as well as for
Linux operating systems.
It can be used both on single user workstations and in networks in client/server
mode.
The following configurations are recommended as a minimum:
Windows
- Windows XP, 2003 Server, 2008 Server, Vista, Windows 7
- 32-bit or x64 Editions
Linux
- FEFLOW is available for a number of different 32bit and 64bit
Linux distributions. Please check the developer's
download section for currently available installations.
Installation packages for other Linux systems may be available on
request (support@dhi-wasy.de).
Graphics:
FEFLOW applies the Open Graphics Library (OpenGL) for hardware-based
graphics acceleration. In several cases graphics drivers, especially
generic drivers provided with the operating system, do not support
OpenGL sufficiently. Thus we recommend to install a specific driver for
the installed graphics hardware or updating the graphics driver to the
latest version.
Dongles:
FEFLOW is protected by an Aladdin hardware key. Three different
versions are in use:
- Hardlock parallel port: Mostly used for older licenses
and by users who have been working with FEFLOW for a long time.
- Hardlock USB Key: This hardware key had been distributed
for some years as the standard.
- HASP HL – USB: All new licenses since the beginning of
2007 have been delivered with this hardware key. It is now the
standard key for DHI-WASY software protection.
Compatibility: The HASP HL key requires the Aladdin driver installed
with a recent installation of the FEFLOW license manager NetLM. NetLM is
available for
download
